Created in 1968, this incredible comic was censored in 1968 and re-proposed only in this volume, years after the death of two of its authors (Alberto Breccia and Hector Oesterheld).
Reading it, one does not understand the reasons for the censorship, perhaps Guevara is represented as too human, too good.
The comic describes the story of Ernesto Guevara (1928-1967) in the last months of his life in Bolivia, with many flashbacks to his past.
From childhood in Argentina to the so-called "Motorcycle Diaries" (as well represented in the film of the same name).
The medical degree, interrupted in the last year, the meeting in Mexico with Fidel and Raul Castro, the Cuban revolution.
Ernesto Guevara, known as Che after the victory in Cuba, has had many jobs in his life: doctor, revolutionary commander, president of the National Bank of Cuba and foreign minister.
Sick of post-revolutionary politics, Che decides to continue the revolution.
The first attempt in the Congo, where he was forced to give up by Russia and Fidel.
Finally he arrives in Bolivia, where his mission does not find the desired success and ends with his death at the hands of American rangers and the CIA.
The drawings are in black and white, abstract but the characters are easily recognizable, an underrated masterpiece.
