Reed and Susan are in hiding after what happened in New York (as yet unknown) and are looking for Ben and Alicia.
In the town where they are eating, they are attacked by Doctor Doom's Doombots.
The attack stops almost immediately and the Doombots resume their anonymous lives as ordinary inhabitants of the town.
The couple begins to investigate and discovers that an elderly woman met Victor Von Doom 30 years earlier, having hosted him while he was studying in America.
Victor promised to take care of the woman and he did.
Doctor Doom left a Doombot to protect her, but upon her death the robot took over, doing the same to other Doombots he built for other inhabitants.
Reed Richards decides to erase the memory of their passage and leave the Doombots undisturbed to live their lives unaware.
