Beautifully drawn story, but quite difficult to follow the plot.
25th century, humanity is relegated underground, having made the surface uninhabitable.
Some people don't want to resign themselves to life underground and try to pass into the upper levels, even if it's forbidden.
The focus is on three rebels: Lavinia, E.V.A. and Nachzehrer.
Lavinia is the most human of the group and has become a rebel after breaking out of prison with the help of Nachzehrer.
After several attempts, she manages to pass to the next level, but ends up trapped and is captured and tortured.
Nachzehrer is a mutant, from the surface.
He knows the truth, that it is possible to live on the surface, barring some consequences, as evidenced by his appearance.
Thanks to the help of E.V.A. he manages to reveal the truth on television, but no one believes him.
E.V.A. is revealed to be a cyborg, the first of her kind.
E.V.A. was built so that she could grow up as a human being, unaware of her nature.
In the finale she is also given a body of flesh, but in exchange for her newfound freedom she has to suffer a brutal beating.
All the events described turn out to be a sadistic game of the three men who control the underworld, but who watch it from the planet Mars, now called Eden.
