Steve Rogers volunteers for a secret government experiment that would allow him to fight in the war, as he is a 4F, i.e. unsuitable for military service.
The super soldier formula was developed by Dr. Erskine and turns Steve into Captain America.
Dr. Erskine is killed by a Nazi spy soon after the experiment and Steve chases him until he dies against a machine.
Captain America begins operating in the United States, while Steve Rogers pretends to be an ordinary conscript soldier, until he is discovered changing by the young Bucky Barnes, who convinces him to join him on his missions.

A tribe of Eskimos is worshiping the block of ice that contains the body of Steve Rogers, until Namor arrives who, without recognizing him, throws him into the sea.
He is accidentally found by the Avengers submarine, when the ice has melted.
Incredibly, Captain America is still alive.

A criminal group attacks the Avengers building, while Captain America is the only one present.
Their leader wears armor similar to that of Iron Man and they manage to stun him, but he breaks free easily and manages to defeat them.
In the second episode he faces the men of Baron Zemo, flanked by Rick Jones.

However, a new member of the team is on the way, a beautiful girl named Jean Grey.
The girl is a telekinetic and all the boys start courting her, but she knows how to defend herself.
Shortly after, Magneto attacks a missile base, taking the soldiers present prisoner.
Only half of the story had been published in number 1, however mythical.
