The protagonist of the story is a 5 dollar bill.
It all begins when a painter is painting Abraham Lincoln's portrait for this banknote, shortly before his murder.
In the present Homer wins 5 dollars at the station, but must give it to Agent Winchester to avoid a fine.
Winchester gives them to his son Ralph, who gives them to Bart for ice cream.
Bart sends them to Krusty, who gives them to Milhouse as compensation for a lawsuit.
Milhouse spends it at the comic shop, which uses it for an online auction to Frink.
Frink creates a time machine to save Lincoln and eventually, on the 5 dollars, his face appears.
