Charles Xavier participates in a TV debate with Senator Kelly and Graydon Creed (son of Sabretooth & Mystique).
The Initiates consider whether to admit Mr. Creed among them, even if he is human, but the proposal is rejected.
The Initiates therefore remain Fitzroy, Fabian Cortez, Shinobi Shaw and Siena Blaze.
Jean Grey, who accompanies Xavier to the TV station, suspects that Senator Kelly's assistant is a mutant.

X-Factor is attacked by a group of dead criminals, brought back from hell thanks to a summoning.
The author of the ritual is a classmate of Guido Carosella, when they were teenagers, who hates him as a mutant.
Before meeting him, his parents had been killed by a mutant (the sequence deliberately imitates Batman's origins).
The boy takes on demonic powers and takes the name of Charon, but fails in the attack.
Before being dragged to hell, he discovers that his parents are waiting for him there.
