Caitlin, Roxy and Grunge return to Earth, but discover that twenty-five years have passed since their departure.
John Lynch is once again the head of IO, but he has changed profoundly.
The war with the Drahn is still ongoing and humanity is losing.
Lynch has his former comrades captured as soon as their capsule lands.
Rachel, the former DV8 Sublime, is now Lynch's lover and assistant and is responsible for their capture.
When they see Lynch again, they immediately trust him, but wrongly.
Sarah and Bobby meanwhile have joined the rebels, led by Dr. Tsung, Sigma and Grifter, to save their former comrades.
Caitlin follows Lynch to his underground bunker, where she discovers his biowarfare project against the Drahn.

Unfortunately, Lord Emp is no longer part of the group but Spartan agrees to help him, directing him towards a Kheran who has already faced the Drahn in the past.
This is Ferrian, the man who raised Mark after escaping from Atlantis.
Backlash, Azrum and Zelota leave for Africa in search of him.
