Max Faraday and Christine Blaze teleport directly in front of Cardinal Lazarus.
The Cardinal orders Coda Cassandra to kill Susanna.
Max loses control and destroys the Shadow Realm and the Rath army, then brings Susanna back to life using the Coda's life force.
Now Max has full control of the power of the Equation: he kills the Cardinal, freeing himself from the divine power and returns to Earth with Susanna, happily in love.

Everything seems perfect on Earth: Max and Susanna live their love on a tropical beach; Dev and Jenny Faraday have fallen in love and are about to get married; the Fallen are rebuilding the city in the Shadow Realm.
Susanna, however, feels that everything is too perfect.
Meanwhile, Christine Blaze is contacted by Dominique Faust, former director of the Black Arts section of the IO, who informs her that someone is erasing the IO from the world, without anyone realizing it.
