During a Dome meeting, Lapide's daughter announces that she will not give up her father's territory.
To test her, Hammerhead asks her to kill Randy Robertson, her boyfriend, who is fighting to get super-heroes readmitted to New York.
Beetle confronts him, but is unable to kill him.
Shortly afterwards, however, Hammerhead's men shoot him.
Before the girl can take revenge, Hammerhead is reduced to death by his new flame, who he met at Randy and Janice's wedding.
It turns out that the woman is the daughter of Count Nefaria, aka Madame Masque.

Hammerhead's disappearance legitimizes the other bosses to start the gang war.
Spider-Man, incited by Robbie Robertson, Randy's father who is dying in hospital, asks Mayor Luke Cage for permission to take on the warring gangs with other super-heroes.
The Spider-Men (Peter Parker and Miles Morales), Spider-Woman, Daredevil (Elektra), and She-Hulk begin capturing the violent bosses.
Ringmaster and the Crime Lord are defeated.
In the meantime, Tombstone has been released from hospital, but his role is now in the hands of his daughter Janice, supported by the super-villains of her gang.
Janice also meets Madame Masque, who informs her that she will stand by and watch the war without interfering, until she is ready to take it all.
