Steeleye, one of Tao's three right-hand men, called Prodigies, is killed.
Carver and Genocide are interrogated by Tao and told that Genocide killed him when he was under Steeleye's mind control.
In reality, Genocide killed him on purpose, after the victim had raped and killed yet another boy.
Tao pretends to believe the lie, but promotes Holden to Prodigal for his courage.

Before he can bring the weapon to Tao he is attacked by Turbine, a new superhero.
Holden tries to explain to him that he is an undercover agent, but the masked hero does not believe him and is forced to kill him.

Holden Carver, Genocide and rookie Pit-Bull go on a mission to England to kidnap a PSI-protected scientist.
The mission fails because among the PSI agents there is Holden's ex-girlfriend, Veronica, who recognizes him immediately.
Pit-Bull, to impress Holden, kidnaps Veronica's new boyfriend and brings him to him so he can kill him.
Holden is forced to beat Pit-Bull until he passes out, then lets the PSI agent go without explanation.
