Paolo Galler: a short Biography

Paolo Galler in San Diego

Paolo Galler was born in 1968 and began drawing comics at the age of 13, a little for fun, a little for passion.

When it came to choosing the school curriculum, however, he preferred accounting to art school: the family could not afford a transfer to Venice, the closest to Trentino where he still lives.

Until 2018 he therefore worked as an Administrative Manager, but in his free time he cultivates his true passion: Comics.

The Collection of Paolo Galler

a few selection of comics

Paolo Galler began collecting comics in May 1979, with “Il mitico Thor nr. 212 ". He buys monthly issues with great enthusiasm, but unfortunately in July 1980 the Editoriale Corno, which publishes Marvel Comics in Italy, closes the business.

He managed to retrieve the latest issue of the series, nr. 243, only many years later because it never arrived on newsstands.

The lack of his favorite comics on newsstands pushes him towards personal production.

Collecting began in 1989, with the first regular salary, also recovering many arrears through the only comic shop in Trentino (Libroteka, in Trento) and Alessandro Distribuzioni in Bologna

Today he buys exclusively online, mainly from Panini.

It has books of all kinds: erotic literature, super-heroes, manga, Bonelli ... over 11,000 comics, which continue to increase!

My Universe

Original Works by Paolo Galler

George & Winifred
Wilma, Maria & Paola
Renza and the Zero's twins

As mentioned, in 1980 the number of comics available on newsstands drastically reduced (the Bonelli production did not thrill him, even if it was later revalued and he was too young to appreciate "Linus") and this pushes Paolo Galler to vent his passion with his own production.

The first story drawn was set in the Marvel Universe, but the protagonists were all original: the Executioners.

Years later he resumes the characters, rewriting the stories in an original Universe and with an erotic stamp far from the origins.

With puberty, Paolo Galler begins erotic production.

He uses this production during his military service (1988/1989) as a means of exchange: he offers his fellow soldiers his works drawn by hand and distributed in original (a first version of the Eter Saga, in exchange for pornographic comics in vogue in the period (Corna Vissute, Realtà Nera, Moana Phone, Camionista, Jacula… just to name a few).

The works proposed on the site are in continuous development: I await comments, criticisms and suggestions for priority in development!

Stop the Bomb with a Balloon

Competition from the Municipality of Genoa (1996)

At the beginning of 1996 the Municipality of Genoa launched a competition for the Centenary of Comics.

The topic of the competition was:

  • the creation of black and white stories dealing with an “atomic color” theme

For the winners the opportunity to appear in the comic entitled "Stop the Bomb with a Balloon".

168 artists responded.

Below are the 4 tables that I presented, without passing the selection:

Some drawings made over the years

Still Life, 1978

In 1978, in sixth grade, I had already shown good artistic skills. Here is a task that I have kept.

Abstract, 1980

In 1980 I completed this other task. The teachers were competing for my future choices: who wanted to direct me to the scientific high school, who to the artistic one.

Ben Grimm, 1980
Thanos, 1980

In 1980, as previously indicated, I drew a first version of the Executioners, set in the Marvel Universe. These are some of the few surviving images.

ASAT 1992 - satirical cartoon

In 1992 I was working at ASAT and the director at the time asked me to make some satirical cartoons to be published in the Association's monthly magazine (Turismo e Ospitalità in Trentino).

This was carried out on the occasion of the abrogation of the alcohol tax.

Bishop, 1999

Year 1999, a sketch of the Marvel character Bishop, one of the X-Men.

In 2000 I made this small portrait of a friend, on an A4 sheet.

Music CD cover, 2005

In 2005 I was asked to prepare a cover for a music band from Trento. Here is what has been achieved.

Girl with flute

In 2012 a colleague asked me for some ideas for a birthday card for a little girl. Here is the idea in black and white.

Christmas 2017

In 2017 I made this slightly spicy greeting card for colleagues and owners. Not everyone appreciated ...

Corehab 2017

In 2018 I created for a company of the group, Corehab srl, a start-up specialized in home rehabilitation, this illustration with the caricature of all its collaborators.
