Escaped scientists attempt to escape by plane with their latest creation, but have an accident and explode into the sea.
While the Avengers investigate, Melter is killed by the Scourge.
Captain America identifies the cocoon found at the bottom of the sea by Captain Marvel, as the same from which Adam Warlock and She were born.
The Avengers manage to retrieve it, but then one of the surviving scientists reveals that they have not produced any cocoons.
Inside, in the Avengers laboratory, Jean Gray begins to wake up.

Vision manages to separate from the Zombie, who reveals to him where they took Scarlet.
The Sinister Reaper joins Black Claw and Nekra, but Vision frees Wanda and they face them together.
Before the criminals manage to escape, Vision discovers that the Sinister Reaper would like to put the consciousness of Vision (copied from that of Simon Williams, aka Wonder Man) in a body apparently identical to the original Simon Williams, the brother of the Sinister Reaper.
