Beautiful and long (than usual) story about time travel.
The protagonists of the story are 5 versions of Kang: Rama-tut, Scarlet Centurion, Kang, Immortus and the new (but last in chronological order) Scion.
Their mission is to recover the components of a machine invented by Nathaniel Richards, Reed's father and their ancestor.
The machine has been hidden in the time stream of the Fantastic Four, so they too split up to retrieve them.
Immortus sends others at specific times and everyone returns triumphant.
Each of them tells their success and in each version the Fantastic Four are killed.
However, Scion's version is inconsistent.
Discovered, Scion is revealed to be Reed Richards, who secretly followed the others, saving a member of the group each time.
The Fantastic Four defeat the Kangs, just in time for the arrival of the T.V.A. (Time Variance Authority) to stop them and reset the timelines involved.
Reed returns to the present with his father's machine, which turns out to be a farewell message.
Nathaniel reveals to Reed that he has a sister.
