Valentina visits Venice, guest of her lover Arno.
During her stay, strange incidents occur with statues of angels crushing passers-by and falling.
Arno wants to make a film about Venice and asks Valentina for help.
He accompanies her to an old photographer, in possession of ancient plates from the turn of the century.
Valentina finds a photograph of a dungeon and suspects their involvement in the Angels' incidents.
Valentina is attacked by them and the old photographer is killed.
Scared, Valentina leaves town.

Valentina is returning by train to Milan from Venice and falls asleep.
She dreams of traveling on a turn of the century train, populated by Russian revolutionaries.
There are also the Dungeon's women, which conspire with the white generals.
Valentina joins the revolution and ends up being everyone's target.
However, it is only a dream, as was that kind of communism.

Summer at home in Milan, for Valentina.
The heat makes the nights long and sleepless.
The only company is his son Mattia, who, however, is temporarily hosted by a neighbor with children.
As she starts tending the plants on the terrace, Valentina finds a strange astronaut.
The man looks very old and reminds Valentina of Baba Yaga's partner, with whom he had to have perverse intimate relationships.
Mattia sees him too, but it's not clear whether it's just a dream or reality (as always, with Crepax).
The astronaut is strangely attracted to Valentina, who makes her more available with a gas that makes her inhale.
The story ends with a journey in his spaceship, which, however, seems to be headed for the future, not in space.
The astronaut has a companion who looks like Valentina.
