Valentina
"The Undergrounds"
publication date: 1966
pencil and story: Guido Crepax
Valentina is invited to a speleological exploration, after the discovery of human skeletons at great depths.
All members of the expedition are found mysteriously dead, with the exception of Valentina, who has disappeared.
Philip Rembrandt is informed and immediately begins a rescue mission.
The mission takes him into the depths of the Earth, where he encounters the Dungeons, a blind race with the power to paralyze people and objects, just like him.
The Dungeons is divided into two cities: the one reached by Rembrandt is the most democratic part, while Valentina was captured by the Superiors, in the other city.
Neutron discovers its origins: an underground woman who escaped to the surface before the discovery of America and saved by the natives, is taken by pirates and falls in love with the captain.
Philip descends from the dungeons one and inherited its power.
In the other city, meanwhile, Valentina is preparing to become the new slave and lover of the Supreme.
Neutron organizes its ancestors against the attack of the Supreme.
Thanks to its sight it provides a winning weapon in the revolution.
Valentina and Philip finally manage to escape.
As soon as they return to the surface they meet Arno Treves, who convinces Valentina to be the protagonist of a film about the adventure she has just experienced.
Valentina, Philip and Arno go down to the caves again, but find themselves involved in an earthquake.
Philip explains that the world of Dungeons is always in motion, at incredible speeds, so when they return to the surface they may be somewhere else.

"Valentina lost in the land of the Soviets"
publication date: 1967
pencil and story: Guido Crepax
Valentina, Philip and Arno find themselves in the heart of the Russian steppe.
They appear in an apparently abandoned villa, furnished in the style of the turn of the century.
In one room they hear a large dog locked up.
After a night full of nightmares, Valentina catches a glimpse of a woman emerging from the window, from above.
Frightened, she convinces her men to look for her.
They find corpses in the cellar and decide to bury them.
While the men dig the graves in the villa's private cemetery, Valentina disappears.
The searches begin, but they find the only survivor of the Russian noble family who lived in the villa.
They suspect both the killer of her family members and Valentina's kidnapper.
While Arno continues his research, Philip becomes Annuska's lover.
Annuska tells the story of her family to Philip.
They had isolated themselves from the world during the Russian Revolution, continuing to remain isolated.
Annuska was the rebel of the family, which is why they kept her in chains and tortured her.
Meanwhile, Valentina wakes up as a prisoner of the Supreme, who survived the destruction of the dungeon city.
His superiority is due to the ability to see in one eye, while paralyzing with the other.
His diversity comes from the lineage of a Russian noblewoman, taken to the Dungeons and become their queen.
Philip and his companions manage to track down Valentina thanks to Annuska's dog, but are captured.
The dog attacks the Supreme and saves them.
