Bianca
"Mad House"
publication date: 1972
original editor: Edizioni Morgan
pencil and story: Guido Crepax
Dreamlike (and rather complex) tale of one of Guido Crepax's favorite characters, after Valentina.
The dream begins in a boarding school, where Bianca suffers a particularly spicy punishment from the old teacher, Mademoiselle Squelette.
To help her the same age Juliette, who seems to have a lot of fun torturing her friend.
Bianca wakes up (apparently) in her bed, but the apartment is blocked by wooden boards on the door and windows and the furniture has disappeared.
When taking a shower, Bianca ends up being submerged in water, only to re-emerge on a ghost pirate ship.
Here she is subdued, branded and tortured, before ending up on the catwalk and thrown into the sea.
Bianca is caught by monstrous fishes, cooked and served to the queen, Moby Dick.
In the belly of the whale he meets Captain Achab, a prisoner of the leviathan for 117 years.
The meeting is short, as Bianca is captured by the Cat and the Fox, who sell her to the circus.
Here she is trained as a tiger, to perform together with other "felines" in the cage.
Bianca is saved by a man, who takes her back to her room, where they make love (in the background the text of the poem "L'Union Libre" by André Breton).
Forced to flee again, they end up emerging from the ground of a farm, where the man is killed.
Bianca, captured by the General, who runs the farm and is planted in his greenhouse, where other girls are taking root.
To get Bianca back, the General engages her with Juliette, who regenerates her by making love.
Now both are ready to tow the General's gig, but Juliette is in charge of the pack.
The General leads them to Antinea, a rich black woman who buys Bianca after having tested her.
Antinea subjects Bianca to games and torture for four days, increasingly perverse.
During the day there are the games, where Bianca always loses, at night the penances.
Antinea makes love with Bianca, but each time subjects her to new tortures, thus strengthening their bond.
Finally Bianca wakes up, finding a letter from A. (Antinea), which suggests a new game, where Bianca will be the noble mistress and Antinea her maid.
In the second volume dedicated to the character, “Odessa”, many aspects of Bianca's dream will be explained, originating from her past.
Bianca does not have the depth of Valentina, as a character, but she more openly admits her masochism, which makes her so fascinating.
