Paulette lives in her bourgeois home, remembering her past adventures.
When she was 13 she ran away from home to attend the show of the Circus of Women, just arrived in the village.
During the show, one of the acrobats is killed and Paulette faints from horror.
The beautiful and prosperous director of the circus has her carried in her carriage and undresses her, to be resumed.
When Paulette wakes up in her arms, the circus is already on its way to the next stage.
Paulette is invited by the woman to attend the new show, but again many girls who perform are killed.
This time Paulette, having woken up again in the director's bed, decides to leave the circus, disgusted.
She finds refuge in a village inhabited mainly by old men, who chain her and force her to serve in the mayor's house.
Other children are not treated better, while young people prefer to join motorcycle gangs.
When one of these gangs attacks the village and collides with the old men, a bounty hunter arrives who is looking for Paulette.
Marie takes her away from the village and they begin the long journey back.
They end up meeting another gang of bikers, who force Marie to challenge one of their women.
Marie triumphs and can leave with Paulette and two other runaway children.
Paulette and the children are brought back to their respective homes by Marie, who collects the reward and "gratitude" of their fathers!
Spicy and polemical against the society of the 1960s, this tale by Wolinski/Pichard met with some success in the 1970s.
