The story tells the spicy adventures of Jelly Shawn, at the beginning of the 20th century.
It all starts in Ukraine, where Jelly is locked up in a girls' boarding school.
Her father was an American journalist, while her mother was a Russian dancer.
To disrupt her life comes the Ukrainian revolutionary army of Nestor Makhno, which is conquering the country.
Jelly is the only survivor of the boarding school and becomes the lover of one of the soldiers.
When the vanguard in which she finds herself clashes with the prince of Russia, her lover dies and she follows a young rebel who escapes by plane after blowing up the prince.
This young man also dies when the plane crashes without fuel in Paris.
Jelly ends up in the arms of the painter on whose studio the plane crashed.
When she tires of the Dadaist environment, Jelly sets off by ship to the United States, with a new suitor.
The journey is tragically interrupted when the ship is attacked by terrorists.
Jelly is the only survivor and spends three days at sea with the fishermen who rescued her.
They leave her in London, where she ends up in bed with a Chinese poet.
Their relationship is not well received in Chinatown and the poet is killed.
Jelly is sold to a brothel, where she ends up prostituting herself for a long time, under the influence of opium.
When she finally manages to escape, a group of sailors help her to embark for Egypt, after saving her.
Here she ends up bonding with a religious fanatic, who believes her to be the reincarnation of an Egyptian princess.
After other spicy experiences, he ends up opening a brothel in turn, in Egypt, at the service of British soldiers.
Her revolutionary spirit led her to destroy the brothel, with all the officers inside.
Jelly Shawn survives, as in old age we see her writing her memoirs on the computer.
An eroticism hinted at, as is customary for George Levis, with a story that winks at history from a female point of view.
