Exar Kun is at the center of this story, while he was still a Jedi apprentice.
He is particularly interested in the story of the Dark Lord Freedon Nadd, who ruled the planet Oderon centuries earlier.
For this reason he tries to track down Princess Aleema, a direct descendant of Freedon.
Nomi Sunrise and Ulic Qel-Droma also carry out the same search, but in another way.
Exar Kun delves deeper and deeper into the dark side of the Force, especially after finding Freedon Nadd's grave and taking his lightsabers.
When Master Ark dies in battle, Ulic also approaches the dark side.
Only Nomi stays true to the light side.
Ulic binds to Aleema and rejects Nomi.
When he meets Exar they start dueling, but Freedon Nadd appears and stops them, naming them both new Dark Lords of the Sith.

No story from the comic book series prior to the Disney purchase (October 30, 2012) was recognized in the new continuity.
SW4 indicates the date on which the 4th cinematic episode is set, "a" indicates "forward", "d" indicates "after". The scale is in years.
