The Avengers follow Mephisto to the Wild West, where they encounter then-era versions of Starbrand and Phoenix.
Starbrand Kid and Reno Phoenix are a pair of mounted gunslingers, who are facing a train of Shi'ar slavers.
After freeing the kidnapped humans, they are attacked by a gang of gunslingers sent by Mephisto.
They are forced to split up.
Reno Phoenix is a black girl and is helped in the battle by Valkyrie and Echo, both on horseback for the occasion.
Starbrand Kid is about to have the worst of the bandits, but Iron Man and Thor come to his aid.
Mephisto personally appears to tempt Reno Phoenix, but is attacked by the current Starbrand.
Iron Man has the opportunity to speak with the Devil's Right Arm, but he doesn't realize he's facing his father.
