Druuna awakens with no memory in a seemingly primitive world: the American prairies in the 16th century.
The first person he meets is a silent but kind Native American chief.
The man feeds her, then protects her from a group of Spanish soldiers, being killed.
From his dead body emerges one of the mutant spiders already seen in the previous chapters.
Druuna escapes on horseback, while another Druuna is sent by Schastar to join her, across a dark sea.
When the two women meet, a fusion occurs and Druuna regains her memories.
At her side there is also the mutant dwarf, but this time in a robotic version.
Reached a village she meets Doc who explains how everyone is just copies in that world.
Each of them hides a mutant spider inside, which gives them a semblance of life.
They don't know if their original versions still exist.
Doc reveals to Druuna that the world they live in is confined within impenetrable walls.
Druuna and the dwarf set out to reach the borders.
