Romero's most famous character, Axa, reproposed in an elegant large-format volume.
In Italy the adventures of Axa have been proposed by monthly magazines such as Skorpio, Lanciostory, etc.
In this short but interesting story, the origins of the character are proposed.
The story has a mythological twist, being told by an old survivor of the fall of a satellite, who met her in his youth.
Axa's parents died when she was very young.
Her father fell facing mutant monsters, while her mother was killed by giant carnivorous worms.
Axa was about to suffer the same fate when a giant eagle rescued her and carried her to her nest.
Axa grows up with the eagle and its two young, until it reaches adolescence.
Too big for the nest, she falls naked from the mountain.
Her eagle sisters intervene to slow the fall.
Axa meets two men asleep near a fire and childhood memories resurface.
However, when they see her, the two men are overcome by lust and try to rape her.
The eagle sisters intervene to help him, killing the two men, but in turn remaining lifeless on the ground.
Axa is left naked and tied up in the desert until men in space suits come to her rescue.
She is led under a dome that protects the last civilized survivors from external dangers.
Axa receives education and training in order to survive, then leaves the safety of the dome for the outside world.
This gesture saves her life, before the fall of the satellite that destroyed the dome.
