Julius has a fixation for fishing, in particular he wants to catch a giant catfish, too smart for him.
The clinic's vet, Frank, is madly in love with Brandy but can't come out.
Brandy shares the apartment with her friend Jen, an engineer at NASA, as shapely as her but much more uninhibited with men.
Surrounding the human characters are a number of talking animals: Leslie, a bullfrog; Ralph, a dwarf bear; Dean, a maniac pig and alcoholic.
Finally there are Truman the duckling and Oscar the dachshund, who live with Brandy.
