It is finally revealed what happened in the missing 6 months in Spider-Man's recent life.
In the present, Peter and Mary Jane witness the return of Doctor Rabin from another dimension.
He is a mathematician who appeared in 2008 in a miniseries written by Wells himself and illustrated by Chris Bachalo, which appeared in Italy in "Spider-Man" nr. 496, 497 and 498.
The scholar had discovered a mathematical link between some Mayan symbols and ancient deities, capable of evoking them in our dimension.
A year ago, Rabin escaped from Ryker's Island, where he was locked up, after sacrificing some inmates.
Equipped with incredible new powers, he immediately went looking for Spider-Man and Mary Jane, intending to sacrifice them to summon the demon god Maya.
Spider-Man only recognizes him once the battle has begun, but Rabin has already marked both him and M.J. with his symbols, who find themselves mystically in another dimension.

Spider-Man and Mary Jane, in the new dimension, must face strange creatures generated by Mayan mathematical symbols.
They are rescued by a former colleague of Rabin's (M.J.'s current boyfriend), who tells the origin of Rabin's madness.
The Mayan demon he summoned, already faced by Spider-Man in the past, is called Wayep and wants to sacrifice Spider-Man to access the couple's original dimension.
Mary Jane uses an inter-dimensional travel device (one of those used in the Spider-Verse) to send Peter home and prevent Wayep from killing him.
Mary Jane and Paul remain in the devastated dimension.
