Doctor Octopus returns to the laboratory used when he was Superior Spider-Man, hoping to remember the secret of cold fusion he invented but forgot.
In the past he had hired a young university student, Estrella Lopez, as his assistant.
It was actually Estrella who had the intuition to complete the experiment, but Octopus takes the credit.
Estrella completes the experiment in secret, but merges with the artificial sun they created.
When Octopus reaches her, he encloses her in an indestructible casing, capable of containing her enormous power.
In the present Octopus frees her, unaware of Supernova's threat.
Luckily for him, Supernova's desire for revenge is directed towards Spider-Man.
