Romero's most famous character, Axa, reproposed in an elegant large-format volume.
In Italy the adventures of Axa have been proposed by monthly magazines such as Skorpio, Lanciostory, etc.
Axa has just left the dome, the last glimmer of civilization in the world.
As soon as she enters the desert she ends up in the web of a giant spider, intent on devouring her.
She is rescued by a lusty savage, Matt, who takes her to his village.
Matt's people are led by an old Mayor, an honorary title that has been passed down through generations.
They are quite superstitious and narrow-minded, so Axa's lack of modesty casts her in a bad light.
After escaping an attempt to burn her alive, Axa flees the village and reaches the ruins of an ancient city.
Here, in a museum, she procures a sword, which she holds proudly.
Matt persuades her to return to the village, but takes away her sword, as weapons are forbidden for women.
As soon as he sees her, the Mayor has her locked up in the house used for insemination, where she finds two other semi-naked girls.
The village is attacked by mutants, who kidnap the two girls.
Axa narrowly escapes and decides to go and save them, accompanied by Matt.
Axa falls into a trap and is taken to the leader of the mutants.
Burt takes her to his bedroom, but when she resists he ends up falling in love.
Burt's pity ends up unleashing the anger of his second, who challenges him.
As the mutants battle it out, Matt steps in to save her.
Only one of the girls agrees to go back to the village with them.
Surrounded by mutants, they are helped by Burt, who sacrifices himself to allow her to escape.
