Captain America and Falcon were poisoned by Viper, who works for a crime boss, the Hooded Commander.
They manage to get the antidote in time and begin the hunt for the boss and the supervillain.
Falcon manages to track down Viper and force her to give him information about the Hooded Commander.
Viper only reveals that alongside him are Porcupine, Plant Man, Anguilla and the Scarecrow (who worked for the Maggia on an X-Men adventure).
Captain America is captured by the Hooded Commander's men and they want everyone to believe that he is the boss.

Havok and Polaris have also joined the original team, while Xavier is mysteriously in a coma.
When Marvel Girl reads Xavier's mind, she sees the image of Hulk and they go looking for him.
The X-Men clash with him, but the real target is an invention of Bruce Banner, who manages to awaken Xavier.

During World War II, a Japanese man is ready to do anything to avoid military service.
He receives a visit from Mister Black (the devil or death, it doesn't really matter), who offers him a contract to grant his wish.
He is discarded on visit, but ends up dying in Hiroshima.
