Captain America joins Deathlok and Godwulf to stop the threats that dominate the future of 1991.
In this future, Roxxon, through the Brand, has eliminated the super-heroes with a weapon called the nth projector.
The enemy they face is called Hellinger, aka Harlan Ryker, the creator of Deathlok himself.
Meanwhile, Nomad is seduced by a girl called Scarlet, who knocks him down with an anesthetic kiss.
Cap and the rebels attack Hellinger's base, where Deathlok manages to destroy it.

Vision and Scarlet reach Olympia, after discovering from Ben Grimm's archives that Maelstrom is the descendant of an Eternal.
Vision intervenes just in time to prevent it from absorbing the Uni-Brain.
In the shadows, Maelstrom's ally called the Deathbringer remains impassive to watch.
As the Uni-Brain splits back into individual Eternals, The Avengers defeat Maelstrom.
The Deathbringer kills Maelstrom, who then escapes.
Most of the Eternals follow Valkin in forming a new Uni-Brain, which departs into space with the imprisoned Deviants.
In the finale, the Deathbringer kneels before a new body, in which Maelstrom will soon be reborn.

Northstar is accused by his teammates of hiding his terrorist past.
He doesn't deny his past, but the process is interrupted by an emergency from Talisman, who is fighting alongside Guardian.
They are again facing the man in armor they already met (in nr. 11), but he is easily defeated by the two superheroes.
When Alpha Flight joins them, Heather confirms her husband's identity.
Mac tells how he survived. When the armor exploded, Mac was transferred to another planet.
He was rescued by a race called Quwrlln, who rebuilt him, but merged him with his armor.
