Self-contained story, divided into two volumes, starring King Conan of Aquilonia.
The story is set in Conan's time as a thief.
While listening to the story of Kariel, a warrior slain by the wizard Arkoss of Arzegia, whose sword is now planted in a rock, Conan meets the beautiful Eria.
The woman convinces him to try to steal Arkoss' treasure.
Together they reach the capital of the kingdom, where an old beggar directs them towards the rebels.
The leader of the rebels betrays them, handing them over to King Fobes.
Arkoss and Fobes are the same person, while Eria is revealed to be the girlfriend of the late Kariel.
Conan confronts and kills Arkoss, but Eria is killed.
The old beggar, who was Kariel's father, merges Eria's soul into her sword and plants it next to his son's.
A plot perhaps too intricate, atypical for Conan, but classic of Ade Capone, the author from Piacenza (1958-2015) of famous series such as Erinni, Kor One and Lazarus Ledd.
