The Thunderbolts are tasked with killing the seemingly insane Doctor Strange.
To entrust them with the task was the W.A.N.D., the mystical division of SHIELD, which however did it in secret.
To face the Sorcerer Supreme, the Thunderbolts acquire some mystical objects, including the sword of the Valkyrie and the Bloodstone by Bloodstone.
During the fight they discover that Strange has been replaced by the King of the Fairies (the darker version, described by Lovecraft).
In the battle they are also helped by the Valkyrie and Bloodstone.
With the Fairy King defeated, the agents of the W.A.N.D. free Strange and make the Thunderbolts forget everything.
