The life of a turn-of-the-century Djinn, reconstructed from the research of a granddaughter in search of her origins.
This story is also set, like the previous one, in Africa, but the only protagonist this time is Kim Nelson, in the present.
Like her grandmother, she too first passed to India (but has not yet seen), discovering the existence of the Black Pearl, which can lead her to the treasure of Jade.
Kim retraces Jade's footsteps, accompanied by the white adventurer Jagger and two black twins, descendants of the sorcerer who anointed her grandmother.
Kim finds the remains of a man through her visions, who was sacrificed to the goddess Anaktu, called Pipiktu.
She also finds an old photograph of Jade, in the company of the Nelsons and their little son (Kim is descended instead from Jade's little girl, who remained in England).
