The Fantastic Four's children begin attending the local school, as they are not welcome in New York.
As the first assignment of science class, Valeria and Franklin have to write a thesis related to Robert Boyle and his list of inventions for the future, written in the 17th century.
Valeria proposes to create the universal solvent and succeeds in her aim, with the help of the other children of the family.
Unfortunately, the solvent cannot be stored in any container and endangers the Earth.
After a night of trying they manage to stop it with the intervention of Reed, who had already faced the same problem in his youth.
The thesis is not written and the students get a failing grade.
