Paul Duval, a scientist who has acquired the power to petrify people for 1 hour, comes to New York from France.
As Gargoyle, he uses his power to get rich illegally.
Thor confronts him, but he too is petrified.
At the end of the 60 seconds, however, Don Blake returns and the effect wears off.
Donald Blake calls Tony Stark and borrows a holographic projector, which he uses to lure Gargoyle and drop him into the sea.
Too heavy to float, Gargoyle sinks into the ocean, unable to return.

Mysterious sound waves endanger structures on the planet's surface.
The source of the waves is located in the southwest of the country, in a military base commanded by General Thunderbolt Ross.
Bruce Banner, just back at the base, begins to investigate a mysterious rock that has sprung up in the center of the base.
The rock appears to be alive and continues to grow, which is why the Lava Men are pushing it to the surface with their machinery.
Molto, the Lava Man met by Thor (Il mitico Thor nr. 6 (1971)), tries to warn his people of the danger posed by surface men, but is not believed.
The Avengers arrive and attack the Lava Men.
Giant Man and Wasp, with a trick, push Hulk to hit the weak point of the rock, destroying it.
Thor convinces the Lava Men to return to the depths of the planet.
