When he leaves for Asgard to take the Norn gems to Odin, he accidentally loses one.
Loki imprisons Ularic, the old sorcerer who must serve as punishment, and prepares a coup.
Meanwhile, Thor returns to Midgard and discovers that Jane Foster has disappeared.
A mysterious man keeps her hidden in New York, for unknown reasons.
Thor searches for the Avengers, but discovers that the original members have left, aside from Captain America.
In their place are Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, all former criminals.
Before being able to track it down, he is attacked by the Absorbing Man, saved by Loki.

Loki intervenes, bringing the Absorbing Man to Asgard and using him to unseat Odin.
Meanwhile, Thor finds Jane Foster and discovers that the mysterious kidnapper is the journalist Harris Hobbs.
Hobbs had some suspicions about Donald Blake and now has proof that he is Thor.
Thor is forced to meet him in private, but does not give in to his blackmail, threatening to abandon him in another era.
Harris Hobbs forgoes blackmail, asking only to visit Asgard in exchange.
