Iron Man is in Hong Kong on business, but his contact is killed by a Hand assassin.
The hitman is equipped with a power ring that Iron Man finds familiar.
The man works for Zhang Tong, aka the Mandarin.
When Tony Stark meets him, however, he does not seem to recognize him.
The Mandarin wants to control Tony Stark to expand his power in the West, so he has his lawyer Alvirez, Mrs. Arbogast and Jim Rhodes kidnapped.
Challenge Iron Man to a duel, in exchange for their safety, but if he loses Tony Stark will work for him.

The Supreme Squadron series debuts on Iron Man Play Press.
The Marvel version of DC super-heroes has its own Universe, but things haven't been going very well.
Kyle Richmond, the Nighthawk (Batman), became President of the United States with good intentions, but was immediately influenced by the mind power of the Initiate (this reality's version of the Stranger).
Only Hyperion (Superman) managed to resist his mind control by escaping.
The Supreme Squadron subjugated the World to the United States, but when the Initiate began targeting other planets, Hyperion defeated him and freed his colleagues.
Now the world is in chaos and the Supreme Squadron is hated by all.
Power Princess (Wonder Woman) proposes to the team to create a new society, based on the Utopia Island where she was born.
Everyone agrees, except the Nighthawk.
