As the Living Laser seriously ponders accepting, War Machine enters the scene and confronts him.
War Machine leads the Living Laser to a communications laser projector, dispersing its energy into space.
After the fight, Jim ponders abandoning his role as President of the S.E. and talks about it with Rae.
The next day he finds out that Tony Stark is alive and faked his death.

An army of robots, sent by the corporation plotting against the S.E., attacks both the Stark factory and Jim Rhodes' home.
The new Iron Man manages to stop the team sent against the plant.

War Machine contacts the Avengers to join them.

Tony recognizes the name as the character of a novel written by James Spencer, a very gifted writer.
Iron Man visits him and they are both attacked by Techno-Killer.
Iron Man defeats him with the help of James, who invented armor for his novel.
Techno-Killer turns out to be his assistant.
The story is dedicated to the memory of Thomas Karounos, I suppose the author's father.

Tony sends his lawyer to inform Morgan that he has been discovered and forces him to leave the United States.
Iron Man returns to Tony's Los Angeles mansion and is attacked by Berserker 7, an unknown cyborg who hates him.
While he is dealing with him, his body is attacked in the hospital and they inject him with something.
