Carlie speaks to Doctor Rabin at the precinct, who tells her about the mystical power of the mathematics he discovered, already used in the past by the Mayans to communicate with the gods.
Spider-Man meanwhile tries to reach the mathematician's colleagues, but is attacked by a strange Mayan demon, summoned by a mysterious priest.
Spider-Man manages to slow him down and reach Rabin's colleagues, only to discover that it was the doctor who summoned the demon, sacrificing a colleague.
At the precinct, Dr. Rabin killed the three Mayan warriors, capturing Carlie.

Spider-Man meets Marvel Girl and Bruce Banner, after they have just left the SHIELD helicarrier.
Bruce was examined by their scientists, to understand what triggers the transformation into the Hulk.
Marvel Girl is tasked with keeping him calm telepathically.
As they travel around New York, Bruce openly flirts with Jean, as they find themselves embroiled in potentially dangerous confrontations.
In the end, Doctor Octopus' attack causes Banner to transform into Hulk, who defeats him and escapes.

The Thunderbolts capture Brother Nature, to force him to register.
During the clash, friction emerges between Songbird and Moonstone for leadership.
The other members of the group are closer to Songbird and Moonstone decides to intervene.
A few weeks later Songbird receives a surprise visit from her mother, whom she hasn't seen in years.
The woman seems to have overcome her alcoholism problems, but reveals that she wants to make a scandalous book about her daughter.
The next day Songbird is informed of her mother's death in a car accident, apparently while drunk.
Songbird closes in mourning until the clash with The Jury, a super-group of vigilantes.
After the battle, Songbird reveals to Moonstone that she suspects her (or Norman Osborn's) involvement in her mother's death.
