Queen Rosalia, her sister, refuses to accept the offer and convinces Karula to flee.

Emperor Gustavus is furious with the Bosnian army for not capturing Karula.
He orders their King not to return without the precious princess, but also charges his chief sorcerer (a giant worm with sharp teeth) Kurgh, to carry out the same task.
The King of Bosvania (a race of fish) intends to exploit his hostages, Rosalia and her father, to force Karula to surrender.
Meanwhile Karula is hiding out in a circus, thanks to her sword skills.
From the stage she attracts the attention of the Commander of the Border Guards, the "Ball-Smashing Bastards", a huge feline.
Commander Dard challenges Karula (now calling herself Raym) to a duel.
