In an unspecified French city, probably Paris, there is the street of the Maisons Rouges, where 6 themed brothels are located.
The mayor informs the prostitutes that one of the brothels will have to close to make way for a casino.
After various discussions, it is decided that the brothel which will have made less money at the end of the year will close.
The various Masions begin the competition, making the best of their abilities, but the mayor is not impartial.
Once his first plot is foiled, it turns out that the governor is also involved in the plan.
