"The Long Road Home (part 6)"
Original editor: DC Comics
Wildstorm Production4>
publication date: July 2005

story: Ed Brubaker

Grifter kills Peter Grimm.
During the escape, Miss Misery becomes angry with Holden for his double-crossing and attempts to kill him.
Stephanie intervenes and kills Gretchen, but Holden kills her in turn, acting on instinct.
Holden Carver delivers Tao to Lynch, after tearing out his tongue.
After stunning Lynch as well, Holden forces the alien to remove the power from his body.
When Lynch comes to, it is too late: Holden Carver is in an irreversible coma.
Lynch uses his powers to create an illusion in Holden's head, where he lives peacefully on a tropical island, accompanied by his lovers Stephanie and Gretchen.
The conclusion of the series is a bit tragic, but understandable.
Holden's actions undercover could not go unpunished.
The fact that he is in a coma and not dead leaves the writers with the possibility of a sequel, even if it was never exploited.
