Set in the golden age of the Republic.
Exar Kun and Ulic Qel-Droma were Jedi knights, but they were seduced by the dark side of the Force.
Separately (the first ally to Empress Theta, the second flanked by her lover Aleema) they try to create a new galactic empire.
The Jedi oppose them, including Nomi Sunrider, Jedi knights who try to become stronger with the teachings of ancient Jedi Masters.
Cay Qel-Droma, Ulic's brother, also tries to recover his corrupt brother.
When Ulic kills Cay, Nomi uses her new Jedi powers to shut him out of the Force.
In the finale, the Jedi attempt to stop Exar Kun as well, but he merges with an ancient Sith artifact.

No story from the comic book series prior to the Disney purchase (October 30, 2012) was recognized in the new continuity.
