In the near future the Earth has been devastated by a nuclear disaster.
Humanity survived on a satellite, but is now returning to the surface.
Two warring factions were born: the Epoch and Mother Earth.
While leaving the satellite, Sarah is separated from her 4 children and is now looking for them.
She travel the desert with a black merchant, Tzè-Tzè.
They reach a mine run by Mother Earth's army, where the prisoners are used as miners.
Sarah makes friends with the young Lucia, engaged to Toki, a naive military man.
During a prisoner revolt, Sarah finds a cache of gold bars, which the military immediately takes an interest in.
Behind the ingots is hidden an immense source of water, which overwhelms and kills all the military and rebel prisoners.
Lucia and Toki survive and become farmers.
The author of "Akira", in a unique science fiction cycle, with an almost western and mature style, which is very reminiscent of "Hokuto no Ken".
