Priscilla Kitaen, aka VooDoo, arrives in New Orleans looking for work.
At the station she meets Carry-4, a local pimp, who takes her to a strip club, the Midnight Lounge.
Priscilla performs for the owner, Christian Charles, who decides to hire her.
Priscilla replaces a girl who has just disappeared, Angel.
Meanwhile, the police find Angel's bloodless body.
Since Angel's room is seized by the police, Priscilla finds hospitality in an old hotel, the Royale, run by old Freda.
Freda is accompanied by Saturday, a foul-mouthed old man, and Papa, the former doorman who accompanied VooDoo there.
As Priscilla settles in at the Royale, Christian Charles kills another of her dancers.

Priscilla's new friends are actually powerful Voo Doo entities, who have chosen her as their tool to stop Charles and Carry-4.
One of the agents investigating Angel's murder is killed by Carry-4.
At the same time, his colleague has a nightmare in which he relives the death of a Catholic reverend addicted to Voo Doo, while Priscilla is possessed by Freda's spirit while she is dancing in the club, manifesting incredible powers.

After the show Priscilla tries to return to the Royale with her colleague Purity, but discovers that it has been in ruins for many years.
Priscilla meets the other police officer in charge of the investigation and they begin to reconstruct the facts.
The Reverend was burned alive in the past, due to his immoral conduct.
On the day of his death, one of his lovers gave birth to Christian.
Purity returns to work and is about to be sacrificed like the others, but manages to escape.
The ritual is completed and the Reverend comes back to life, but VooDoo is ready to face him.

Voo-Doo, possessed by Freda, who reveals herself to be the Voo Doo deity known as Erzulie, goddess of desire and passion, faces Carrefour, another deity gone evil.
Erzulie, Legba and Baron Samedi, the other Rada Voo Doo, defeat Carrefour and push the Reverend to face Damballa, the VooDoo God, who sends him back to the Afterlife.
Aware of her new power, VooDoo finds a priestess to be educated.
