Another pearl, untied from the classic continuity of the series.
Logan pays off an old debt and agrees to protect the son of a boss during a gang war in Madripoor.
To keep the boy quiet, he tells him a fairy tale (it seems like an event from his past, but it will be discovered later that it is a false memory).
Logan, still a child, was kicked out of his village because he was considered too weak and cowardly.
In the middle of the snowy forest, he is surrounded by a pack of wolverines, who welcome him into their midst.
Logan settles in beautifully, as his mutant powers form.
After several years a group of hunters captures him, to sell him to a circus.
The midst comes to his aid and the hunters are killed.
The tale inspires the boy, who saves his father's life shortly thereafter.

The misadventure of Excalibur in the British Empire continues.
Nightcrawler is captured and tortured by the Secret Service.
Rachel notes some similarities between her past and this universe, recalling how she faced the Shadow King and the Hellfire Club in her world.
Rachel also faces the evil mutants here, but is defeated by Iron Man.
Only the intervention of Excalibur allows the defeat of the Hellfire Club.
