Story unrelated to continuity, starring Wolverine.
Logan becomes involved in a manhunt to capture a scientist named Whale.
Wolverine seeks out the Whale to remove nanobots from his blood that are separating the adamantium from his bones, disrupting his healing factor.
At his side a bounty hunter called the Heavy, who wants to help Logan out of personal interest.
Wolverine tracks down the HYDRA scientist, only to find that the Heavy is the leader of the Whale.
Logan and the Whale defeat HYDRA and the nanobots are eliminated, as is the Heavy.
Sienkiewicz's pictorial style is unmistakable, which however makes reading the story somewhat difficult.

Logan and Gambit leave for Japan to help Jubilee.
Jubilee, in prison, attracts the attention of the Hand, who sends a killer to kill her.
At Tokyo airport Logan is attacked by a new cyborg of Pierce (recently deceased), a girl called Cylla.
In addition to Gambit, Sunfire also arrives to his aid, but they must deal with the ninja of the hand of Matsuo, in business with Mariko Yashida.
Jubilee is attacked by Reiko, who however decides to help her when she discovers that she is a friend of Logan, to whom she is indebted.
As Reiko walks away, sparing Jubilation's life, Yukio arrives to protect her.

Professor Xavier and Jean Grey reach Villa Braddock, to help Rachel Summers, still in a coma.
Thanks to Xavier's telepathic powers, Excalibur and Jean enter Rachel's mind and communicate with the Phoenix.
The Phoenix recounts her bond with planet Earth, first with the original Feron, then with Jean Grey herself.
The meeting with Rachel was accidental, as her spirit had traveled to our time from the future just as Phoenix was looking for Jean's body to heal it.
The Phoenix accompanied Rachel into the future and thanks to her power she allowed her whole body to be transferred to the past.
After the fight with Necrom Rachel almost died and is still recovering.
Until then Phoenix is in control, so she returns to space tethered to her.
