The X-Men face off against the High Evolutionary and his Luminous daughter (who has the combined powers of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch), who have landed on Earth to "gift" the mutants with a virus that will sterilize all humans.
Rogue, who was tortured by him, is the first to strike, followed by everyone else.
The clash turns in favor of the High Evolutionary and his Evolutionary Guard (evolved Ani-Men).
The battle ends when Synch agrees to donate a drop of blood to the High Evolutionary, fascinated by his power.
The High Evolutionary, before leaving, allows Jean Gray to partially read his mind, so as to gather information about Gameworld.
In the finale, Feilong is seen again, preparing to invade Mars for a place on the Orchis Council.
Meanwhile, Doctor Stasis passes to Ben Urich evidence on the resurrection of the mutants (specifically, he shows the corpse of Cyclops).
