After the death of Charles Xavier, which occurred in the past at the hands of Legion, Magneto took his place in the project of coexistence between mutants and humans.
This did not prevent Apocalypse's rise to power, but Bishop partially retained the memory of the reality that was meant to be and convinces Magneto to repair reality.
The X-Men lineup is as follows: Quicksilver, Iceman, Sabretooth, Wildchild, Morph, Storm, Banshee and Nightcrawler.
Part of the X-Men, led by Rogue (Magneto's wife and mother of his son Charles), leaves for Chicago to stop the extermination of humans perpetrated by Holocaust, son of Apocalypse.
The rest of the group prepares to leave for the Shi'ar Empire and the M'Kraan Crystal, capable of restoring reality.

Upon reaching Chicago, Burning Sun loses control, recalling the massacre committed by Apocalypse in Japan.
Rogue is forced to absorb his powers and memories, to calm him down.
Meanwhile, Sabretooth and Wildchild attack Holocaust in Indianapolis, to distract him from the other X-Men.
Victor Creed sacrifices himself to allow Wildchild to return to their companions and warn them of the location of the Infinite Holocaust Production Center, which keeps his army alive.

Magneto created a school for mutants in Wundagore, trying to realize the dream of his friend Charles Xavier, who died to save his life.
While Apocalypse is rising to power against humans in the United States, he trains the X-Men.
In the initial lineup there are: Storm, Marvel Girl, Colossus, Scarlet Witch, Iceman and Quicksilver.
Magneto introduces a new member to the team, Weapon X (Wolverine).
Mystique takes Rogue to Magneto, after her adopted daughter absorbs Polaris' powers to save her life.
Magneto turns out to be the only one able to touch her without danger.
When the Horsemen of Apocalypse (Sabretooth, Candra, War, Death and Gideon) attack a Nuclear Arsenal in the United States, Magneto sets out with the X-Men to stop them.
Rogue and Scarlet remain at the school, to protect the other students.
Sabretooth rebels against the rest of the Knights when he discovers their intention to start a nuclear war, but his execution is stopped by the arrival of the X-Men.
Weapon X tackles Sabretooth, severely wounding him in the spine.
Magneto manages to prevent Gideon from launching the nuclear missiles, but is too weakened to face Apocalypse when he arrives.
Returning to the school, they discover that it was attacked by Nemesis (who later becomes Holocaust) and that Scarlet died to protect it.
